Josef Wagner (composer)
Josef Franz Wagner (20 March 1856 – 5 June 1908) was an Austrian military bandmaster and composer. He is sometimes referred to as "The Austrian March King". Hailing from Vienna, which remained a key location in his life, Wagner joined a military band early on following his education. Between 1874 and 1899, Wagner would remain a member of the military band of different infantry regiments of the Austro-Hungarian army, becoming a successful bandmaster from 1878 to his death. Among is most famous work is '' Unter dem Doppeladler'' (Under the Double Eagle)''.'' Wagner died in 1908 following an accumulation of debt. Josef Wagner (12 January 1899 – 22 April or 2 May 1945) was from 1931 the Nazism, Nazi ''Gauleiter'' of Gau Westphalia-South and, as of December 1934, also of Gau Silesia. He was also the ''Reichskommissar'' for Pricing from October 1936. In 1941, he was dismissed from his offices, then expelled from the Nazi Party (NSDAP), imprisoned by the Gestapo, and likely executed around the time of end of the war in Europe. Early life and First World War Wagner was born in Algringen (today, Algrange), Alsace-Lorraine, to miner Nikolaus Wagner. He went to the ''volksschule'' in Kneitlingen until 1909 and then to a preparatory school in Zeltingen-Rachtig, Zeltingen. Beginning in the summer of 1913 he attended the teachers' seminary in Wittlich until 1917 when he entered military service as a one-year volunteer in the Imperial German Army. Josef Wagner The Younger
Josef Wagner the Younger (March 2, 1901 - February 10, 1957) was a Czech painter and sculptor. A pupil of Jan Štursa and Josef Mařatka, he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1922 to 1926. He was later a professor at the Art School in Prague. Here he met his future wife, Marie Kulhánková, a sculptor, with whom he had two sons, who later became artists themselves. Warm stone colors best suited his own personal style, inspired by archaic Greece and the Czech Baroque style. There is a statue in his memory in Prague. Josef Wagner Jr. (born 24 May 1938, in Prague) painter, graphic artist, architect, pedagogue, a representative of contemporary Czech painting. At least four of his works are housed at the National Library of the Czech Republic. Life Born in Prague on 24 May 1938, he comes from an old artistic family. His father, Josef Wagner (1901–1957), was an outstanding sculptor of the interwar and post-war eras; his mother, Marie Wagnerová–Kulhánková (1906–1983), as well as his brother, Jan Wagner (1941–2005), were also sculptors. Josef Wagner studied architecture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. After graduation he devoted himself to the designing of housing and garden architecture, photography, and scenography.
